what "verde" is?

VERDE GBCE.JPG

VERDE is an evaluation of the sustainability and quality of the building through a

systematic analysis of it throughout its life cycle, in relation to with a series of

environmental impacts, social and economic.

The analysis is carried out through a series of criteria grouped into six study areas:

  • Plot and Location

Evaluates the waste that is not generated by the building itself, but by the plot where

it is found, such as urban solid waste.

  • Energy and Atmosphere

Evaluates the impacts generated by energy consumption in all its formats. It covers

from the production of construction materials, their transfer and the energy consumed by the building itself.

  • Natural resources

The building consumes and manages natural resources that are critical, either because of their scarcity or because of the impacts generated in their management. This area studies the impact related to this type of management.

  • Quality of the Indoor Environment

A building must be respectful with the environment, but also guarantee the well-being of its users.

  • Innovation

It seeks to provide design and project teams the opportunity to earn points for innovative efficiency in categories that are not specifically regulated in the GREEN verification system for unique buildings.

  • Social and economic aspects

The importance or weight of each analysis criterion is determined by its level of relationship with the impacts to be reduced.

VERDE is based on the Life Cycle Analysis method. Evaluates the building throughout its useful life, from the extraction of raw materials to their reuse, recycling and transport to landfill.

The analysis is carried out either on the objective reduction of impacts, or on the measures implemented when the reduction is not quantifiable.

The impacts constitute the final “meter” of the sustainability of the building. Starting from the idea that every building has an impact, the GREEN evaluation is a system of continuous perfection that aims to reduce these impacts with respect to the best practice at all times.

The weight of each of the impacts in the global evaluation reflects the extension, intensity and potential duration of the effects, as well as the trend reflected in the sustainability indicators corresponding to the environmental profile of Spain.
